Greg Abel
Chief Cat Herder
Greg learned to ski in North Dakota during his college years in North Dakota as part of a physical education requirement. After relocating to Minneapolis in 1990, he embraced ski racing in 1997 due to the area's lack of mountains. In 1999, he was one of the founding members of Midwest Masters, serving as Vice President, and has been a dedicated member ever since, recently rejoining the Board of Directors in 2022.
In 2003, Greg earned his USSS competition official license and now serves as Chief of Race. His love for the sport runs in the family; two of his three children raced for Minneapolis Southwest High School, while the other skied for the Nybora USSS Freestyle Ski Team. When not racing, Greg can be found at Hyland Hills coaching high school athletes who are part of the Minneapolis Alpine Ski Team (MAST), or fishing.
