The Rules we follow

Midwest Masters has a very well-defined set of rules for our racing events. Most all of our race events are sanctioned US Ski & Snowboard Alpine Masters races, which means they follow the rules as defined by the US Alpine Masters governing body, which can be found in the US Ski & Snowboard Alpine Competition Guide. These rules are in turn governed by FIS Masters rules. FIS, or the International Ski Federation, is the international governing body for alpine ski racing.

All FIS and US Ski & Snowboard Masters rules can be found here on the US Ski & Snowboard website.

Check out this video for a great overview of our Rules

As defined by US Ski & Snowboard, these rules still allow latitude and and flexibility for Masters racing. Therefore, where allowed, Midwest Masters extends and enhances these rules with our own Midwest Masters Race Series rules. We also cover policy details that aren't covered by the Comp Guide such as our cancellation policy. Some examples are below:

  • Run Order rules - start orders and second run orders
  • Scoring and Points Lists
  • Children "racing" as Forerunners
  • Detailed Course Setting standards
